Y Combinator boosts African portfolio with Miden, a Nigerian API-Fintech.

In the latest Y Combinator winter 2024 batch, Nigerian API fintech startup Miden has been selected to participate. Miden provides virtual cards in both USD and Naira for businesses, aiming to solve the operational challenges associated with traditional payment methods. The company’s platform uses API technology to allow businesses to issue virtual cards quickly and at scale. Miden has already issued over 100,000 cards and operates in four countries. Y Combinator has shown a strong interest in remittance startups from Africa, with several joining its winter group, including Cleva, a service for cross-border payments. Y Combinator’s previous winter groups have included other African fintech startups such as Grey, Bloom, Plumter, Nash, Lenco, Vault Pay, ChowCentral, and Eden Care Source.
