CIOs in the banking sector are keen on using generative AI but are uncertain about how and where to implement this technology within their organizations, according to Tom Merry, the UK managing director for banking strategy at Accenture. In an interview with Tech Monitor, Merry said that many banks want to become customer-centric and powered by next-generation technology, but the journey is different for each bank, depending on the type of operation. Merry added that despite generative AI showing value in several bank functions, CIOs are unsure about where they should invest in AI and whether it aligns with their broader strategic goals. He added banks need to focus on training staff so they can make the most of AI and do the work better.
